Constructing large and small-scale structure with origami folds

I will discuss the origami approximation to large-scale structure, a toy model of structure formation encompassing rotation and an idealized cosmic web. Cosmological simulations starting from simple initial conditions illustrate how the cosmic web reaches even inside of collapsed structures like those that form galaxies. Structure formation also renders the usual analysis tool in cosmology and spatial statistics, the correlation function, suboptimal for analysis. If time permits, I will also discuss approaches to enhance the correlation function's power to bring out physics, for example in analysis of the baryon acoustic feature.
