Abstract

Pursuing the recent suggestion that dynamic fibrils on the Sun are driven by magneto-acoustic shocks, we perform numerical simulations of waves traveling from the photosphere through the transition region. We investigate how the observable properties of the fibrils, such as length and deceleration, depend on the wave period, the shock amplitude and the inclination of the magnetic field, and compare the results to those found from observations.
