Abstract
Simulations of planetary encounters show that a near-Earth asteroid population is removed from the Solar System in 1-10 million years. Why then do asteroids constantly appear with possible collision trajectories with the Earth now, billions of years after the Solar System's formation? Where do they come from and how do they get here?
These questions will be answered in todays talk, and recent contributions from the institute to the understanding of these questions will be presented.
