In this talk, I will try to explain, on a very basic level, how CMB observations can be used to estimate cosmological parameters. In the course of the talk, I will also describe what the programs CAMB, CosmoMC, and Commander are used for in the parameter estimation process, hopefully also making clear the distinction between these programs.
