Fredagskollovkium: Yabebal Fantaye: Foreground emission and the prospect of detecting gravitational waves and lensing from cosmic microwave background polarization

In this talk I will overview basics of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) and the generation of gravitational waves from inflation as well as lensing of the CMB photons by the large scale structure. One of the challenges that faces the CMB science, specially from CMB polarization, is the contamination of diffuse emission from our galaxy, the Milk-way. In light of several on-going ground-based and balloon-borne experiments, I will present in this talk the prospect of detecting gravitational waves and lensing from CMB polarization sub-orbital experiments.
