Anthropocene closer to be an official epoch

The A in CBA stands for the Anthropocene.

While the term Anthropocene has been in use since the 1960s to describe the Quaternary, it became more popular since the 2000s to characterise an era which is driven by human influence. However, until now, it is not an official geological epoch.
This situation is likely to change soon. The Anthropocene working group plans to submit a proposal for the new epoch to the Internal Commission on Stratigraphy. There are still some discussions about whether it should have a fixed starting point related to the nuclear bomb tests mid-last century or rather acknowledge the gradual increase of human impact.
