Humans produce both aerosols and greenhouse gases. While anthropogenic aerosols often come with detrimental effects for health and the environment, they also can have a cooling effect on climate. This process can mask the warming effects due to greenhouse gases. Read more about the research, the consequences for climate projections in the original article and in this news report by NRK (in Norwegian).
