The paper explores the global importance of carbon storage in nature before zooming in on Nordic areas and Norway, where land use and nature loss is linked with consequences for carbon sequestration and storage, hydrology and flooding plus other ecosystem services, before addressing how a better and more long term management and valuing of nature could and must be implemented.
