Women in Earth Sciences - in Brisbane!

Last week researcher and expat Grace Shephard and Kate Selway (former CEEDling and current MAGPIE project collaborator) were in sunny Brisbane, Australia. Kate and Grace, who are both Aussies, were both keynote speakers at the Dorothy Hill Women in Earth Sciences Symposium - named in honour of Australia's first female Professor, Dorothy Hill (1907-1997).

Grace spoke about Arctic tectonics, vote maps, and colour maps, and Kate about the Greenland ice-sheet, field work, and mantle interactions. The unique program brought together academia, industry and government over two days and included talks, posters, panels, and networking sessions with an emphasis on women in STEM.

Carmen Gaina (also an Australian!) was a keynote speaker at the first #DHSymposium which was held 2 years ago.
