The Torsvik et al. (2010, Nature) article figures prominently in the Science story, written by the productive geosciences journalist Richard Kerr.
- Geological detectives are piecing together an intriguing seafloor puzzle. The Indian Ocean and some of its islands, scientists say, may lie on top of the remains of an ancient continent pulled apart by plate tectonics between 50 million and 100 million years ago. Professor Trond Helge Torsvik fra Institutt for geofag og hans forskergruppe får støtte fra Forskningrådet til å etablere et nytt Senter for fremragende forskning (SFF) - Centre for Earth Evolution and Dynamics. Et mål med det nye senteret er å utvikle en modell som forklarer hvordan mantelen i Jordens indre påvirker jordplatenes bevegelser og forårsaker massive vulkanutbrudd som forårsaker endringer i klima og miljø på jorden.
