Academic interests

I have started my PhD in Biology and Ecology of Global Change in 2019 at the University of Aveiro, Department of Biology, in collaboration with the University of Oslo, CEES. My thesis is entitled "Breaking down barriers in One Health: an integrative approach to parasitic diseases from Portugal to Africa". This project will be held in two countries with contrasting socioeconomic and environmental scenarios: Portugal and Mozambique. It aims to understand the role of wildlife as reservoirs and spreaders of infectious and parasitic diseases for humans/livestock, and how the environmental and anthropogenic factors are correlated with the emergence of these pathogens. My master's dissertation was focused on parasite cross-transmission between the Iberian wolf and wild ungulate prey.
