New face: Kristin M. Brunk

New Postdoc at Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis (CEES). From the United States.

Hei! I'm a field biologist turned quantitative ecologist, and at UiO I'll be studying changes in avian species distributions over time using community science data as well as developing new methods and applications for passive acoustic monitoring of species. I like projects with direct conservation applications, so I'll be looking to incorporate that into my work, as well. Don't hesitate to reach out!

More broadly, I'm interested in how species respond to anthropogenic change, and I work to incorporate this interest into conservation and behavioral ecology using a broad range of field and analytical techniques. Most recently I was a postdoc at the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology where I used landscape-scale bioacoustics to model the distributions of indicator species in the context of habitat, forest restoration, and wildfire. Prior to that, I received my PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I worked on conservation and management of two species in old-growth redwood forests.
