Abstract
The Past as a Lens for Biodiversity Conservation on a Dynamically Changing Planet Special Feature integrates research from across spatial and temporal scales to explore how ecosystems and communities dynamically respond to large-scale, rapid environmental change, highlighting proposed solutions for conserving biodiversity on a rapidly changing planet. The authors of this Special Feature report advances in our understanding of how we can use long-term and paleontological evidence to better inform how species and communities respond to environmental perturbations, including effective practices for quantifying historic responses to environmental change.
