Before we knew it almost 4 weeks had flown past, and it was time to pack up our bags and travel home from Kjøpsvik. After such an intensive time with such a fantastic, dedicated team it was sad to say goodbye!

Making this excavation happen has been an incredible effort. Thanks to Trond’s professional organisation during the past 6 months and the help from many others almost everything went very smooth. We managed to dig and expose an awful lot of sediments and sieved more than 1000 buckets!! We would also like to thank Norcem for having us on their terrain. The facilities and interest in our work have been much appreciated.

Working with such an interdisciplinary team is challenging but especially very rewarding. We archaeologists, geologists, biologists and others all have our own methods and ways to approach things. Putting our heads and hands together in a single excavation has been a fantastic and successful effort.

We now have crates of sediment samples, rocks and bones in each of our respective labs. It will be exciting to start analysing these, and we will continue to update our blog reporting about our activities!
