In the EvoCave project we also have the ambition to prospect a few other caves that have been identified as potentially promising sites for finding remains of past biodiversity. Isabelle Lecomte and Leo Zijerveld from the Department of Geology at the University of Bergen are experts in the use of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) analysis. Together with Mona, Henriette, Stein-Erik and Trond from the EvoCave team they recently prospected the Solvik cave, in the Municipality of Fauske, using GPR.

It was a very intense but successful trip! The results from the GPR analyses will present important information for a pilot excavation. We will know where to dig in order to avoid larger blocks and rock fall from the ceiling, for optimal access to sublevels with potential glacial and postglacial faunal remains.
