Harish Jain is a PhD Candidate at the Condensed Matter Physics Group and NJORD, Department of Physics, UiO. He is also part of the CompSci doctoral programme.

Multicellular organisms are emergent thanks to patterns formed at multiple scales. These patterns are interconnected, and can also emerge due to patterns at smaller scales. In this talk, the patterns formed due to neighbor exchange of cells in dense tissues would be presented. These patterns are essential during embryogenesis (development of an organism from a fertilized egg), wound healing and diseases like cancer. The study of these patterns lie at intersection of active matter, turbulence, elasticity, plasticity, and physics of foams. It is everything, everywhere, all at once.
