Last year, the Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences at the University of Oslo (UiO) was granted a € 2.6 million MSCA COFUND project – CompSci, training in computational science – to fund 32 PhD-students.  The CompSci team organized a kickoff event to celebrate this big success together with the first CompSci PhD candidates, the CompSci supervisors and everyone else involved in making this project a reality.

Professor Anders Malthe-Sørenssen, the project leader of CompSci and leader of the Center for Computing in Science Education (CCSE), welcomed everybody and in special the new CompSci PhD candidates. He also presented the CompSci Doctoral Programme and gave an overview of the events to come. Professor Bjørn Jamtveit, Vice Dean of research at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, remarked the strategic importance of CompSci for this Faculty. To finalise, Berit Sundby Avset, one the national contact points for MSCA and ERC, talked about MSCA from an international and national perspective.
