Short bio

I hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics and a master’s degree in applied physics from Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. The subject of my master’s thesis was the Variational Quantum Eigensolver, a quantum computing algorithm for quantum chemistry calculations.

After my master I worked as a software engineer within cybersecurity for a year and a half before joining the CompSci program in the end of September 2022.

Research interests and hobbies

My main research interests are within quantum engineering, where we are trying to use often unintuitive quantum effects to create new technology. During my PhD I will use methods from quantum chemistry to study quantum dot systems suitable for quantum computing. I will also research quantum computing algorithms that could be executed on those systems.

As for hobbies I am into most endurance sports and can often be found orienteering, running, cross-country skiing or biking in the forests around Oslo.

Quantum computing on quantum dot systems

My PhD-project consists of two parts. The main objective of the first part is to make numerical simulations in order to understand how a quantum dot system consisting of electrons ”floating” on superfluid helium can be used as a quantum computer. The second part of the project will look into quantum computing algorithms for many-body physics. The algorithms will be tailored for the quantum dot system studied in part one and the ideal final outcome is to be able to perform a quantum computation using a quantum computer based on electrons on superfluid helium.
