Short bio
Volcanologist, I have always been curious of how rocks flow or rupture. From fieldwork observations, I always brought back samples which I first analyzed and later tested experimentally in apparatuses reproducing their natural environment.
Numerically reproducing my experiments, I confirmed the underlying physics of the natural phenomenon I had formerly observed. While developing new experimental prototypes and techniques in Europe, America and Asia, I developed the necessary skills which today allow me working jointly at the University of Oslo and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility on 4D imaging of rocks under extreme conditions.
