Short bio
I obtained my PhD in Astrophysics at McMaster University, Canada in 2010. From 2010-2014, I worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Santa Cruz. And from 2014-2016, I was a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge. I joined the University of Oslo as an Associate Professor from 2017, and was the first female faculty member in astrophysics in Norway. I was recently awarded the Young Research Talents Grant from the Research Council of Norway, and I currently supervise 2 PhD students and 1 postdoctoral fellow.
My research is focused on numerical simulations of galaxy formation in a cosmological context, and how star formation and supermassive black holes can have profound impact on galaxies. Together with my collaborators at leading institutions worldwide, I develop and utilize massively parallel magneto-hydrodynamic codes to harness the power of next generation supercomputers, and produce state-of-the-art “virtual Universe” to confront with observations.
