Dr. Alfonso Valencia, Group Leader and Director of the Life Sciences Department of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, will present the lecture "Networks based approaches in biology and biomedicine."
Atmospheric and climate sciences have a stronghold in Oslo among the four institutions University of Oslo, the Meteorological Institute, CICERO and NILU. This joint seminar invites renowned international experts to contribute to an informal series of lectures, meant to create interaction with the Oslo atmospheric and climate science community on recent highlights and analysis in the field. All seminars will be held on Thursdays (Noon -1pm) and lunch (sandwiches) will be served on a “first-come-first-served”-basis.

Doctoral candidate Lukáš Malina at the Department of Physics will give a trial lecture on the given topic:
"Cosmic accelerators and galactic synchrotron radiation"
Lund, Sweden, will soon host two of the most advanced particle accelerators for photon and neutron science, MAX IV - an electron synchrotron, and the European Spallation Source - a high power proton linac. This double seminar (25 + 25 min) will give an overview of both facilities, covering the complementarity of the two facilities as well as the accelerator science challenges. The seminar is suited for students as well as staff.
