As a relatively young discipline, bioinformatics has had an exceptional growth in technology and public interest. But what is bioinformatics? How is it used in novel research and commercial products? And what possibilites are seen in the future?
I will discuss the question in the title. This is joint work with Alex Degtyarev and Ilia Itenberg. This will be a talk involving very classical topics in algebraic geometry. I will try to make the talk accessible to students at master- and PhD level.

Hvorfor er det slik og hva kan vi gjøre med det? Senter for digitalt liv Norge har nå funnet noen svar og utarbeidet en rapport. Nå inviterer vi til diskusjon på Arendalsuka sammen med paneldeltakere som har lang erfaring med forskningsinnovasjon for å se nærmere på hva rapporten sier.
