From eight to nine Departments

January 1 2017, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences expanded from eight to nine Departments. The unit formerly known as UNIK is renamed as Department of Technology Systems. A warm welcome to all our new employees.

Two sections

Department of Technology will, as the name implies, focus on technology systems. In close collaboration with research institutes at Kjeller, the Department shall initially develop two sections - Autonomous Systems and Sensor Technologies and Energy Systems. There will be several connections between these two sections in addition to connections with other academic fields at the Faculty.

I look forward to the continuous development of the new department at Kjeller, increased collaboration with the other technology areas at Kjeller and that we can offer our technology students a broader range of study, especially at Master level.

The Department will be officially opened on February 2nd at the Department’s premises at Kjeller. I am looking forward to it!

Welcome to UiO

I wish our new employees a warm welcome to the University of Oslo (UiO). I would also like to thank everyone who has contributed, and especially the Head of the Department Stian Løvold for his great contribution in the work of transferring the business from UNIK to UiO. UNIK’s board, with Vidar Sannerhaug in the lead, have also contributed in a great extent to establishing the new department.

Lastly, I wish to thank the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) for constructive collaboration in the work of transferring the business from UNIK to the new department and I am looking forward to continue the good collaboration with NTNU at Kjeller (in addition to the other fields of collaboration between NTNU and UiO).
