National research schools

National research schools supplement existing doctoral degree programmes across Norway and their goal is to improve the quality of the PhD education.

Each research school consists of a network of institutions that have entered into a binding cooperation on PhD education in a specific field. The participating institutions collaborate on PhD courses, summer schools, travel funds and similar. The research schools provide a broader-based research education and a bigger network within the field than each individual institution can offer on its own.
