PhD programme seminar 2024

A day seminar for all PhD candidates who started their PhD at the MN faculty in autumn 2023 and in 2024.

The aim of the PhD programme seminar is to welcome our new PhD candidates. You will get to know the faculty, network and acquire important knowledge for your future PhD life and career. 

After the programme seminar, all participants are invited and encouraged to partake in RealMoro. RealMoro is an event for all staff members at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, as well as the Science Library and the Natural History Museum. The Faculty cover the entry fees for all PhD programme seminar attendees. This means that everyone can enjoy a delightful experience filled with delicious food, refreshing beverages, and captivating entertainment.

We hope you can join us for both the PhD Programme seminar and RealMoro!

16:30 RealMoro 2024

All staff at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Science Library and the Museum of Natural History are invited to the party RealMoro 2024. This year we are sponsoring the entry fee for RealMoro for all PhD candidates participating in the programme seminar 2024.

The event starts at Sophus Lie Auditorium at 16:30. 

At 18:00 tapas and drinks are served at the Science Library. The party ends at 23:59.

Bjørn Jamtveit

Professor and Vice Dean of Research at the MN Faculty

As Vice Dean of Research and PhD Council leader at the MN Faculty, Bjørn is responsible for the quality of research education and the portfolio of studies offered. Bjørn is a professor in Geology.

Matthew Good

Senior Academic Librarian and Leader of the Digital Scholarship Centre

Matthew, with a PhD in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from UiO, is an expert in open research, open data, and research data management. He actively promotes open research and provides valuable guidance, enhancing the digital competence of researchers.

Ilan Dehli Villanger and Linda Westgaard

ForVei (MN Faculty)

Ilan and Linda are skilled counsellors specialising in talking to students and PhD candidates at ForVei. ForVei's main goal is for students and PhD candidates to enjoy their learning experience and to acquire a sense of achievement. They lead discussion groups and give courses on important topics like stress management and mental health.

Alexander Refsum Jensenius

Professor at the Department of Musicology, Director of RITMO Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rhythm, Time, and Motion. Alexander is a member of the Expert Group on Open Science European University Association

Pellegrino Riccardi

Edutainer and communication expert

Pellegrino gives fun and engaging lectures on motivation, communication and work culture. He describes the Norwegian way of working life, and contributes insight into how the typical Norwegian communicates.
