Hybrid lectures

The MN faculty does not recommend hybrid lectures (physical lectures with students combined with live Zoom lectures). The solution is demanding to administer, and will not necessarily provide good teaching quality. MN recommends that you choose one of these options instead:

If you still want to conduct a hybrid lecture, there are several ways to do it. Here is a description you can follow:

  • Open the Zoom meeting on the big screen in the auditorium / classroom. You need a microphone (mosquito / swan).
  • Use the microphone in the room to conduct a lecture to both the students on Zoom and those present.
  • Remember to share your screen in Zoom so that those who follow on Zoom can see your presentation.
  • NB: It is not recommended to make recordings during hybrid lectures because it easily creates challenges related to privacy.
  • If you are recording, make sure that none of the students' faces or voices can be identified. You must do this before you publish the recording, e.g. by editing the recording in a video editing program.

Read the UiO regulations for conducting and use of recordings with regard to privacy.
