How do i use "Lecture recording"?
In MN's auditoriums, "Lecture recordings" are pre-installed on all fixed PCs. Look for this icon on the computer desktop:
See instructions for using "Lecture recording". You can also use "Lecture recording" on a UiO-operated laptop. See instructions for installation on a laptop in the link.
How do I record with Mac and private laptop?
The recording solution "Lecture recording" does not work on Mac / private laptop. To create a "screencast" (lecturer voice and screen) on Mac, we recommend the following solution:
- Mac's built-in screen capture solution. Publishing a screencast made with Mac's built-in screen capture solution does not require the consent of anyone in the audience.
You can also use the recording function in Zoom when creating a screencast of a lecture, for example if you have a private laptop.
NB: Remember that the recording must be published in the course timetable (see the section "Publishing the recording" below)
Stationary recording box in the classroom (Cynap)
For advanced users who need to conduct a video recording, etc., you can use the recording solution Cynap (a physical recorder mounted in the classroom). Check the "Schedule system" to see if Cynap is installed in the room you are going to use.
NB: Cynap supports video recording, so when using it, you must familiarize yourself with the regulations for recording lectures at UiO. Remember that the admission must still be published in the course timetable (see the section "Publication of admission" below).
Publishing a recording
According to the MN guidelines you must publish lecture recordings in the timetable on the course semester page. Recordings should not be placed in Canvas.
- Lecture recording: If you use the recording solution Lecture recording, the publication of the lecture video in the timetable takes place automatically (see details in the section How do i use "Lecture recording"?).
- Other recording solutions: If you use one of the other recording solutions (Screen Recording on Mac, Zoom or Cynap), you must publish the recording / file yourself. Use the UiO app "Course upload" to upload files to the semester folder and publish in the Schedule.
- Publishing in Canvas: After you have posted a lecture video in the timetable, you can choose to link the video in the course's Canvas room.
