Former member of the LIPCHEM-group Dr. Jørn E. Tungen, now working at Aker BioMarine, associate professor Anders Vik and professor Trond Vidar Hansen, have published a paper together with collaborators at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Oslo.
The results in the article show that the specialized pro-resolving mediator RvD1n-3 DPA activates certain GPCR receptors in oral keratinocytes that enable multiple biological responses. The activation of these receptors and the biological actions resulting strengthen their defence against microbial infections. Such results are of interest in oral health.
