During their stay, Nhung and Emilie attended lectures covering a wide range of topics, including basic genetic and epigenetic theory, genome- and epigenome-wide association studies (GWASs and EWASs, respectively), polygenic risk scores, interpretation of GWAS and EWAS results, and different Mendelian randomisation approaches. Each lecture was followed by hands-on exercises, putting the theory into practice. The lecturers were engaged and encouraged an interactive learning environment, which promoted many stimulating discussions. Nhung and Emilie found the five-day course very interesting and inspiring, and they highly recommend the course to anyone interested in learning more about how to combine the fields of genetics and epigenetics with epidemiology!
