PharmaSafe's Hedvig Nordeng recently published results from the study entitled: Transfer of cetirizine/levocetirizine into human breast milk and estimation of drug exposure to infants through breastfeeding-a human lactation study from the ConcePTION project. This study aimed to quantify concentrations of cetirizine and levocetirizine in breast milk and to estimate the exposure to the drug to infants. The results showed that the transfer of both cetirizine and levocetirizine into breast milk is low and compatible with breastfeeding. Results from this study will contribute to safe advice on the use of medicine for breastfeeding women. The full text is available through Wiley Online Library
