Hannah Johnson

I became interested in pregnancy related research while working at Public Health England on the National Congenital Anomaly and Rare Disease Registration Service and undertaking a BSc in Medical Genetics at Queen Mary, University of London. I then developed an interest in pharmacoepidemiology during my MSc in Medical Statistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

I am currently a PhD student at St George’s University of London. My research is focused on improving the statistical methods used to identify associations between medications taken during pregnancy and birth defects. Although I would consider myself an applied statistician, my current work is methodological, with a particular focus on Bayesian approaches.

I am very excited to be joining PharmaSafe at UiO. I will be working with the Nordic Childhood Cancer Datasets, applying some newly developed statistical approaches to find associations between medications taken in pregnancy and subsequent childhood cancers. I am looking forward to collaborating with the team.

Meritxell Pallejà Millán

I have been working as a biostatistician for more than 6 years in IDIAPJGol, Barcelona, Spain. I have been working as a data analyst in different projects related to lifestyle, smoking cessation, primary health care, pregnancies, dietary, medication, vaccination, etc.  In addition, I am an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University Rovira i Virgili (URV) in the department of Basic Medical Sciences. I teach biostatistics to students studying for a degree in human nutrition and dietetics.

Related to my studies, I hold a Master's degree in biostatistics, and I have a degree in mathematics and a degree in statistics.

Throughout my life I have always been interested in biostatistics and enjoyed traveling and getting to know new places and people. This is the perfect opportunity to combine them all.

I am grateful for receiving an iAPOGEE scholarship and I'm looking forward to improving my skills working on the OMOP Common Data Model on Norwegian registry data - COVID-19 pregnancy study project. It is a great privilege for me to be working in the PharmaSafe group at UiO.
