I am a recent graduate with a master's degree in Molecular Medicine specializing in Bioinformatics. I earned my degree from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands; however, my hometown is Cairo in Egypt. I am thrilled to be taking on a researcher position where I will be working within the VAC4EU consortium to assess the safety and adverse effects of the recent Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.

During my master's studies, I developed a great interest in clinical research. I particularly became fond of using clinical data for association studies that allow us to answer questions pertaining to decision making in the clinic. That is why I did my master’s thesis at the Center for Psychopharmacology at the Diakonhjemmet Hospital here in Oslo. The project used patients' genetic data as well as therapeutic drug monitoring data to draw an association between the individual variation in metabolism of the psychoactive drug Risperidone and certain haplotypes in the CYP2D6 gene locus. Thus, I see my current position as an opportunity to apply what I learned methodologically as well as to expand my knowledge in Pharmacoepidemiology.

Whenever I have free time, I like to cook, I enjoy the occasional movie night, and I like to hang out with friends. I am looking forward to my time here in the group and to developing myself throughout the process.
