New edition of "Legemidler og bruken av dem" has been published!

We are excited to announce the release of the fourth edition of the textbook, "Legemidler og bruken av dem," written by Hedvig Nordeng and Olav Spigset.

"Legemidler og bruken av dem" (Medicines and their use) equips students with the essential knowledge necessary to carry out various medication-related tasks, including administering medications, educating patients on their use and effects, observing and monitoring patients, and taking prompt action in case of complications, as well as reporting and documenting drug efficacy and side effects.

The textbook is divided into four parts, each focusing on different aspects of pharmacology.

  • Part 1: General introduction to pharmacology
  • Part 2: How medications influence various disease processes.
  • Part 3: Medication treatment for specific organ diseases and systems
  • Part 4: Medication use in special patient populations and conditions, including medications for pregnant women and children, acute poisonings, and herbal medications.

"Legemidler og bruken av dem" is part of the "37 ÂșC" knowledge package, which consists of five textbooks in the natural sciences for nursing education. 

Authors Hedvig Nordeng, a professor in pharmacoepidemiology at the University of Oslo and leader of PharmaSafe, and Olav Spigset, a professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, NTNU, co-authored this latest edition. They express their gratitude to all those who provided valuable feedback since the previous edition was published six years ago. The comments and suggestions have played a vital role in improving the book, making it even more relevant to the daily challenges faced in the medication treatment of patients.

The fourth edition of "Legemidler og bruken av dem" is now available as of June 17th  in both print and e-book formats, and can be obtained from the publisher, Gyldendal's website.
