Sammendrag

This is a thesis for the degree of Philosophiæ Doctor, and consists of four research papers preceded by an introductory note.
We have considered mainly partial differential equations of Hyperbolic type. First two articles focused on designing efficient, robust numerical schemes for Induction equations and Induction equations with resistivity, which is a submodel for the MHD equations.
Third article is concerned about the Kawahara equation, which can be thought as KdV equation + fifth order dispersion. Finally, the last article is about the rate of convergence of degenerate parabolic type equation. We considered a semi-discrete first order finite difference scheme for a nonlinear degenerate convection-diffusion equations in one space dimension and prove an error estimate.
