Denne avhandlingen ser på nye måter å oppdage hjerteinfarkt tidlig. Dette gjør den ved å se på metoder for å detektere og lokalisere ischemi, en tilstand der deler av hjernemuskelen ikke får nok blod. Hvis man oppdager ischemi tidlig nok kan man reversere tilstanden og unngå et hjerteinfarkt. For mer info se engelsk oppsummering.

Preventing heart attacks is the challenge addressed in this thesis. We look at identifying and locating ischemia, a condition where a blocked artery prevents sufficient blood from reaching heart muscle. If detected early, steps can be taken to reverse the ischemic condition and avoid a heart attack. We introduce new components of Simula’s computer-based heart simulator used to investigate innovative ways of diagnosing ischemia earlier and more precisely than methods currently in use.

Research for this thesis has been carried out with the Cardiac Computations Group at Simula Research Laboratory .
