Title: Modeling the drift and radar backscatter signature of icebergs, by Ron Saper, Carleton University, Canada. 

Abstract: Icebergs are a source of wonder and mystery, and hide many mysteries that remain to be solved. In the quest to observe icebergs remotely and predict their behaviour, many difficulties are encountered and, at every turn, we find the expectations of engineers and researchers are frustrated. In this wide-ranging talk the many misconceptions and fallacies about icebergs are surveyed and analyzed, and their impact on scientific research and practice are explained and reflected upon. Examples are drawn from iceberg drift forecasting, remote sensing, and iceberg tracking studies.

De to foreleserne på Kristine Bonnevie-forelesningene 2019 er nobelprisvinnerene Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard og May-Britt Moser. Mosers foredrag er en multimediakonsert sammen med Trondheimssolistene. Åpent for alle, men alle gjester bes forhåndsregistrere seg for å sikre seg plass.

We invite to mingle and welcome party for the academic year 2019/2020! Hot dogs and cakes will be served. We welcome our new students and employees and welcome all "old hands" back to ITA. The candidates who finished their master's degrees in June will be given their degree diplomas.  We will also give important information about safety issues, and about the coming move back to the Blindern campus.

The seminar in Mathematical Logic will take place in the meeting room of the Computer Science building Thursdays 10.15 - 12.00.
