Finite Temperature Quantum Monte Carlo

Olav Syljuåsen

In this series of introductory lectures, I will focus on the Stochastic Series Expansion Quantum Monte Carlo method, a powerful approach for investigating equilibrium properties of quantum lattice systems at finite temperatures. The first lecture (Nov. 15) will cover the Monte Carlo procedure, loop updates, and the sign problem. The second lecture (Nov. 22) will address extracting equilibrium dynamics, including the challenging transition from imaginary to real time, utilizing a stochastic approach.

This event is part of the master lecture series organized by the Section for Theoretical Physics.
