Abstract.
During the evaporation of a black hole there arises the question of whether the information about the state of the matter forming the hole is lost, or transferred to the emitted Hawking radiation. From this, there emerged the concept of black hole complementarity as one paradigm. The firwewall argument was proposed to show the inconsistency of the assumptions underlying black hole complementarity. I will discuss the background of this and the argument as far as I understand it. The talk will be informal with time for discussion.
