Abstract.
Cosmic strings were originally proposed in the 1990s as possible seeds of structure formation. The idea was heavily disfavored by CMB measurements. In recent years, cosmic strings have seen a renewal of interest due to possible links to gravitational wave observations, astronomical puzzles, and mathematical links to string theory. In this talk I will give an introduction to cosmic strings. I will talk about the basics of some recent theoretical developments of what are called wiggly cosmic strings, and how bears on cosmic strings' observational prospects.
