The IT solutions at UiO

Dr. Anne Schad Bergsaker, Dr. Jon Kerr Nilsen, and Dr. Maiken Pedersen, USIT, UiO.

Abstract:

This presentation will give an overview of the centralized IT solutions that are available to anyone working at the Department of physics, for free. The centralized IT department originally sprung out from the department of physics, as this was the only place on campus where there was a large computer. Since then, the computer and the people have changed, and the possibilities offered by the IT department have increased dramatically. However, a lot of the potential is unknown to most working at the University. We want to invite anyone with any kind of IT needs to hear what we can (and can’t) do for you as a researcher. 

Biographies:

Anne Schad Bergsaker holds a PhD in condensed matter physics from UiO, and works as a section manager for Advanced User Contact at the IT department.

Jon Kerr Nilsen holds a PhD in particle physics from UiO and works as a section manager for High Performance Computing at the IT department. 

Maiken Pedersen holds a PhD in particle physics from UiO and works in the High Performance Computing section at the IT department.
