ICI-5 will be the Norwegian contribution to the Grand Challenge Initiative – Cusp, a collaboration between NASA, Andøya Space Center, JAXA (Japan), UiO and several partner universities.
3D exploration of the physical properties of plasma turbulence in the auroral cusp, the region of the ionosphere where the solar wind couples to the Earth’s magnetic field. The research outcome is key to developing space weather forecast models for satellite based navigation and position systems like GPS and Galileo.
