Summer Schools

As a part of the work package several intensive courses are made in collaboration from Stellenbosch University, the University of California Berkeley and the University of Oslo.

The complementary intensive courses are arranged as summer schools for master and Ph.D. students. They are designed to give credits at all three universities and teach various topics in nuclear physics, as well as training the students in presenting their own research.

Previous topics include the nuclear shell model, nuclear resonances, nuclear astrophysics, and the Oslo method. All schools are designed to give students insight into both theory and practical applications using relevant software.

The courses are designed by excellent professors and researchers from all three universities. In addition, we also have Cathrine Tellefsen on the team to ensure that the courses include active learning and give the most efficient teaching possible.

The Stellenbosch summer school of 2018, the Oslo summer school of 2019 and the South African summer school of 2019 are also co-financed by the complimentary INTPART project of UiO with Japan.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the planned schools in November 2020 and June 2021 had to be cancelled.
