Dynamic FASu- vs. FDG-PET in tumor xenografts in mice

Kathinka Pitman, Dept. Physics

FASu is a recently developed PET-tracer targeting oxidative stress which has shown promising results in two xenograft models of lymphoma and ovarian cancer, with improved tumour visualisation over the more conventional tracer FDG. We have evaluated dynamic uptake of FASu and FDG in a set of four different xenografts (lung, osteosarcoma and two breast cancers). FASu does not seem to offer improved tumour visualisation over FDG in these xenografts, especially the breast cancers retained significantly lower concentrations of FASu compared with FDG at late time points.
