Build an Attitude Determination System with the 4DSpace Sun Sensor

Sun sensors are used by space craft to determine their own attitude/orientation relative to the vector pointing at the sun. A PhD project within the 4DSpace Research Initiative has developped such a sun sensor based on principles from 'neuromorphic' electronics. The aim of this MSc project now is to make that sensor part of a system that will be able to fly on a sounding rocket or cube-sat.

The student will have to design a printed circuit board (PCB) that hosts the sensor and euither an FPGA or a microcontroller to interface with the sensor and the central control unit of the space craft. Thus, some skill with a PCB design tool will be needed (such as Eagle) and some experience with embedded system design.
