Norway's decreasing glaciers

There are many glaciers in the Norwegian landscape. They are at risk of decline drastically and perhaps disappearing due to a warmer climate. Especially exposed are the glaciers in Northern Norway and the smallest glaciers. Interview with Solveig Havstad Winsvold in the newspaper Morgenbladet in the column 'The doctor answers' in June.

Winsvold had her dissertation on June 7th 2017 at the Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo, on the theme: Mapping glaciers using time series of remote sensing data.

In her PhD project Winsvold studied changes of the glaciers in Norway's during the nineties and early 2000s by using images taken by satellites. The analyzes show that the glaciers are decreasing.
