Award for outstanding student presentation, AGU 2015, San Francisco

Congratulations to PhD Research fellow Felix Matt, Department of Geosciences for winning the Outstanding Student Paper Award (OSPA) for his talk about the impact of aerosols on the cryosphere. The presentation was given at the American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) Fall Meeting this past December.

Congratulations

Earlier this month on 10th of February the American Geophysical Union (AGU) announced the winners of the Outstanding Student Paper Award at the 2015 Fall Meeting in San Francisco, December last year.

One of the winners is Felix Matt with his talk about "Hydrological response to black carbon deposition in seasonally snow covered catchments in Norway using two different atmospheric transport models", presented in the session: Dust, Black Carbon, and Other Aerosols in the Cryosphere: Dust, Black Carbon, and Other Aerosols in the Cryosphere.

Matt is a meteorologist and now working in the field of hydrology in the project Hydrologic sensitivity to Cryosphere-Aerosol interaction in Mountain Processes (HyCAMP). He is affiliated to the Land-ATmosphere Interactions in Cold Environments - LATICE group, a Strategic research initiatives at The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

We asked how it was to attend a such big conference like AGU Fall Meeting, with over 24 000 attandees..

- The conference is huge and it's easy to get lost in the amount of posters and talks. However, my session was not too big and I got valuable feedback on my research from other researchers in my field after the talk, he says.

Felix who is originally from Germany, has been in Norway for nearly two years now. He is working as a PhD Research Fellow in the Geography and Hydrology section at the Department of Geosciences.

Congratulations to Felix Matt for winning the award!
