The UiO's research prize for 2016 awarded Trond H. Torsvik

Today it was announced who will get the foremost awards for 2016 from University of Oslo. Gratifying was that Professor of geodynamics Trond Helge Torsvik from Department of Geosciences and The Centre for Earth Evolution and Dynamics (CEED) - is awarded the University of Oslo's research prize.

Today it was announced that University of Oslo's research prize is awarded Professor Trond H. Torsvik at Department of Geosciences and CEED.

Torsvik is among the most cited researchers in paleomagnetism, geodynamics, paleogeography and earth history . He has described how one can explain the link between the deep parts of the Earth with the Earth's surface.

Torsvik has been a key person to establish The Centre for Earth Evolution and Dynamics (CEED) a CoE at the University of Oslo. CEED was established three years ago (2013) and Torsvik has been key person from the application process and as the center's director until recently. He is now deputy chairman of CEED which today counts more than 50 employees, all employees within interdisciplinary fields.

Common to the award winners at the UiO is that they are rewarded for special efforts in research and is an inspiration to all academics at the University of Oslo writes the University of Oslo in the press release.
