GEO-professors from UiO on list of global highly cited researchers

Professor of geophysics Trond H. Torsvik from CEED and the Department of Geosciences, and Professor II of meteorology Michael Schultz, the GEO-department and The Norwegian Meteorological Institute appear on the Web of Science Group's list over global highly cited researchers. The list is based on citation on the 1 % top articles by field for 2008-18.

The Web of Science Group's list over global highly cited researchers by field`s top 1 % are dominated by American scientists, but we have some highly cited researchers from Norway as well.

In the ranking we find two from Department of Geosciences within the subject field Geosciences

Trond Helge Torsvik is on the list of the most cited researchers at the University of Oslo, with 22 053 Google Scholar citations. Out of Norwegian scientists on the ranking he is no 8 in number of citations in Google Scholar.

Also another scientist at the department: Michael Schultz, Professor II from Section for Meteorology and Oceanography, with main position at The Norwegian Meteorological Institute, appears on the list. With 34450 Google Scholar citations he is ranking as number 6 on the 25 most cited Norwegians.

The citation list is a: “Recognizing the world's most influential researchers of the past decade, demonstrated by the production of multiple highly-cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in Web of Science”, Web of Science Group. Khrono has found the number of citations in Google Scholar, read the Khrono article here (in Norwegian).

It is worth mentioning that for 2018 we had Terje Koren Berntsen, Professor of meteorology and Professor of hydrology Chong-Yu Xu on the Web of Science Group's list.

Congratulations from GEO- and CEED collegues!
