Teaching and Learning Journal Club Meeting

Welcome to the a new Teaching and Learning Journal Club Meeting 11. August 13:15.

The Teaching and Learning Journal Club Meeting 11/08, 13:15.

Welcome back to the section for Geoscience Education's monthly "Journal club"! We would like to invite everyone with an interest in teaching and learning to join us in our discussion of a paper that we've read (or book chapter/video/practice). This is a regular opportunity for all members of the department to meet and discuss issues related to teaching and educational research; the article provides a theme for the meeting, but the ensuing discussion can be wide-ranging.

This month's meeting will be 1315 on the 11th of August, in the iEarth room (217b in the Geology building). Everyone is welcome!

This meeting's theme is 'Belonging as a key for student success'. This month's article is: 'Context Matters: How an Ecological-Belonging Intervention Can Reduce Inequities in STEM', https://doi.org/10.1093/biosci/biab146. It will be presented by one of the authors (Sarah Hammarlund, from the university of Minnesota), who is on a brief visit to Oslo.

There will be a short presentation of the article, followed by an informal discussion, coffee and cake!

Best
