The workshops will be formatted as follows:
45 minute introduction to sustainability in teaching;
2 hour workshop on integrating sustainability into course(s).
The 45 min introduction is open to all and will provide an overview of sustainability and how incorporating the UN Sustainable Development Goals into courses can engage and empower students.
The following 2h workshop is most relevant for those directly involved in teaching. Workshop participants will map how sustainability is currently incorporated into teaching and work to identify where sustainability may be incorporated into existing course activities and assignments. It is an excellent opportunity to have a look at your own teaching from a new perspective! However, if you're not involved with teaching, but interested in exploring how sustainability can be incorporated into courses, you're very welcome to join!
Please check your emails or contact an iEarth Education Chair (Karianne or Mattias) if you are interested in joining us.
The seminar and workshop will be led by Dr. Susan Kaspari, a visiting Fulbright Scholar at the Arctic University of Norway and the Norwegian Polar Institute. Susan teaches numerous sustainability related courses, has facilitated other sustainability in the curriculum workshops, and has served as a Provost Fellow for Sustainability at her home institution. At the end of the workshop, Susan will provide examples from project based sustainability courses she teaches that empower students to work to advance sustainability on campus and in their community.
